No Free Toiletries at Guangdong Hotels from April 1, 2010

In order to save energy and avoid waste, Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau recently issued a notice, which stipulates that, starting April 1, 2010, star-rating hotels in Guangdong stop sending free disposable toiletries to guest rooms, and toiletries are only supplied upon request by guests.

The disposable toiletries involved in this policy include toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, combs, shampoo, body wash, soap and shower cap.

World Expo 2010 Shanghai will be held in 31 days. Everyone is expecting it. A lot of Expo Souvenirs have come onto the market. I think the admission is the thing people pay close attention to. There are several kinds of admission. Some special ones are sold out. It’s so pity. Because there are many people want to go to expo site.

The day before yesterday I saw the admissions that were bought by my colleague Ruby for her clients. She was planning to post them. So I took a picture immediately as a remembrance. The size of the admission is like the name card and it has a cover. There is some information on the cover such as map and the price of all kinds of admissions.

The Lantern Festival (Yuan Xiao Festival)

The Lantern Festival (also called Yuan Xiao Festival) is on the 15th day of the first Chinese lunar month. According to the custom, people start to prepare for the celebration of Lantern Festival to be held on the 14th day of the first Chinese lunar month. Two of the most important things are lanterns and sweet dumplings (called Yuanxiao in Chinese).

“Yuan” literally means first, while “Xiao” refers to night. The Lantern Festival is the first time when we see the full moon in the lunar year. It is traditional festival for family reunion. And the lanterns in various sizes are hung in the trees or somewhere. Besides, the lanterns owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the lanterns in ancient time. If someone knows the solution to riddles, they can pull the paper out and go to the owners to check the answer. If they are right, they can get some small gifts.

Air China To Make Changes To Japan Routes

According to Kyodo News, Air China will terminate the Chongqing to Central Japan International Airport (Centrair) route from March 28, 2010, and it will launch a new route from Chengdu to Centrair on the same day.

This new route will be operated daily with a stopover in Shanghai; it is expected to attract more business travelers and tourists.
